At present, ECUPL has 15 schools and departments, including LLD and LLM programs with outstanding reputations. There are 10 majors for doctorate candidates, 26 for masters and 23 for bachelors and post-doctorate outside placement in public service and private industry. Among its notable achievements, the University is known for: (1) Legal Historiography, rated a key discipline by the Ministry of Education; (2) Economic Law and Criminal Law, rated a key discipline by Shanghai Municipality; (3) Foreign Law and Comparative Law Center, rated a key research institution of Social Science by Shanghai Municipality; (4) International Law and Comparative Law Center, rated as a high-level featured program by Shanghai Municipality.
The library in the university has a collection of books more than 1600,000 volumes and has over 1500,000 Chinese and foreign journals and magazines.
The university now has about 700 international students studying Chinese LLB programs, Master programs, Doctoral programs, Non-degree programs and Chinese language program. The students are coming from all over the world, with more than 50 nationalities.
From recent years, the university has made great investments in student accommodation facilities. The Changning campus is located in the center of Shanghai, where students get easy access to local shops, entertainment and restaurants with excellent transport links. All the international student houses are equipped with laundry, kitchenette and open space, as well as 24 hours security service.
Through the last sixty years, ECUPL has gradually developed into a multidisciplinary university. The school builds on its already strong law program with multidisciplinary study of politics, economics, management, literature and science. ECUPL is proudly known as "the Oriental pearl of law education.”
