Jinzhou Medical University (JZMU) was founded in 1946, renamed as Liaoning Medical College in 2006. In 2016, it was officially renamed as Jinzhou Medical University. It is approved by the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level of Education Ministry with excellent achievement in the year of 2007. With the experience of 70 years, it has finally become a provincial university which is mainly based on medicine with multi-categories, multi-levels and multi-forms management. The school covers an area of 915 mu. It has 21 undergraduate majors as well as 59 Master degree majors. So far there are 896 full-time teachers and more than 12000 full-time students from 30 provinces. There are 95 teaching practice bases and 3 affiliated hospitals. The First Affiliated Hospital is the Largest First Class General Hospital in China. The Second Affiliated Hospital is the Center for the diagnosis and treatment of Oral Diseases; The Third Affiliated hospital is the First Class General hospital of prevention and treatment diabetes and diabetic eye disease.
College of International Education is one of teaching units of Jinzhou Medical University. It is specialized for the education of international students in China. There are six departments which is responsible for recruiting foreign students, managing foreign students, managing apartments for foreign students, as well as teaching associating work (including teaching Chinese as a foreign language). There is a teaching center for Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL). A total of 30 staff, including 11 teachers of Chinese as a foreign language. There are 5 apartments for international students with more than 500 rooms, over 10 multimedia classrooms, language rooms for students, and one foreign-language reference room.
International education of JZMU has developed rapidly. It was qualified to enroll international students in 1997 and qualified to award‘English-Taught Bachelor of Medicine /Bachelor of Surgery ( MBBS )’by the Ministry of Education in the year of 2012. It became one of qualified universities which was able to recruit international students under Chinese government scholarships in 2014.
There are three education levels: postgraduate, undergraduate and short-term training course. Up to now, the total number of international students from 66 countries has reached to 1800, and has graduates since 12 years ago. In recent years, the number of international students under Chinese government scholarships has reached to 39. In order to strengthen the interaction and mutual understanding, our University regularly organizes Chinese Culture Festival, Chinese Culture Week and other interactive exchange activities between Chinese and international students. Our University improves the multi-cultural exchange through taking student activities as the carrier and widespread Chinese culture vigorously.
