Currently, Hohai University offers 54 undergraduate majors, and awards first-level class master degrees in 34 disciplines, second-level class master degrees in 185 disciplines. It also has 9 research bases for post-doctoral students, first-level class Ph.D. degrees in 12 disciplines and second-level class in 57 disciplines. Among these, there is a first-level class key discipline--Hydrology, Hydraulic Engineering, designated by Chinese government and 7 are designated as second–level class key disciplines. In addition, 15 disciplines are recognized as first-level class key disciplines at the provincial level, and 73 as second–level class key disciplines. Hohai University has 10 key laboratories, 7 national engineering research centers above provincial and ministerial level. Among them, Hydrology, Hydraulic Engineering, and Civil Engineering related disciplines are among the top ones in China, it is especially true with the former. Hohai University has a current enrollment of more than 51,000 full-time students, including 16,493 masters and 19870 undergraduates.
In recent years, the university also has conducted many research projects from the key infrastructure construction in water conservancy and hydropower engineering throughout the nation, such as Three Gorges, South-North Water Transfer, Xiaolangdi, Yangtze Estuary channel regulation project, the Huaihe River sea-outfall project, Ertan, Xiluodu, Longtan, Nanjing Metro, Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway, Shan-Fen expressway, Nanjing Second Changjiang River Bridge, Runyang Bridge. Etc. Some research achievements, reaching the international advanced level, have been awarded more than 20 national science and technology prizes and 265 provincial science and technology prizes.
Hohai University starts to recruit the international students in 1954 and has celebrated her 100 years anniversary in 2015. The school set up the university scholarship in 2005 and a lot of international students have benefited from the scholarship till now. Hohai University full scholarship consists of the tuition, accommodation, comprehensive insurance and living allowance. The university partial scholarship covers the tuition only. We have cooperated with cross nation enterprises and other governments to educate talents engaged in water engineering fields. In the future we'd like to offer more chances to those applicants from Belt and Road countries. To encourage high-caliber international students to study at Hohai, the University established Hohai Scholarship for international students in 2005.
