As a national key university, the institution has now became a comprehensive university of engineering and science, specializing in textiles, apparel and art design, along with other subjects such as economics, mechanics, management, humanities and so forth. XPU is a large-scale and high-ranking university with 11 colleges and 2 teaching departments, covering 60 undergraduate programs and 49 postgraduate programs. The garden-like campus contributes to the university’s elegant environment, and the conveniently organized infrastructure creates a pleasant and civilized atmosphere.
Attaching great importance to the students’ ability on problem-solving, XPU is committed to provide students with as many opportunities as possible to conduct real-life projects. There are latest lab facilities, applied research centers and comprehensive multidisciplinary talent training bases on the campus. The university also has excellent links to both domestic and international institutes and enterprises. The staffs are actively involved in applied projects, enjoying good reputation in their fields. This expertise allows XPU to deliver a lively and dynamic environment for students. There are 2 campuses, covering an area of 1,080,000 square meters, 57 laboratories, 8 provincial engineering technology research centers, 2 provincial key laboratories, 1 collaborative innovation center, 5 provincial engineering technology research centers, 4 national industrial technology innovation strategy alliances, 1 philosophy and social science research center, the ministry of education of public service platform. There are more than 22000 students, including 18,000 undergraduates and 2,000 post-graduates.
XPU pays attention to international exchange and cooperation. Fundamental friendship and long-standing cooperation with almost 50 universities and organizations abroad have been established for decades. Around 500 students are currently studying or have finished their dual degree study at XPU and partner universities in the U.S.A. and U.K. More than 800 selected faculty members and students have visited partner universities and more than 400 international students have studied at XPU. Frequent official exchange visits strengthen the understanding and communication between XPU and our partner universities and organizations. Each year we have scores of visiting professors from abroad that teach, deliver lectures or conduct research programs. This extensive network with overseas partner universities and organizations, plus the multi-cultural atmosphere appealing to friends of all nations, contributes to our vision to become a global university. Globalization is incorporated in every aspect of the university giving our staff and students a truly international dimension.
