I. About NCST
North China University of Science and Technology was renamed from Hebei United University which was co-established by Hebei Polytechnic University and North China Coal Medical University under the approval of the Ministry of Education in May 2010. NCST, as one of the best universities in Hebei province, offers a complete education pathway by integrating our various credentials with a full range of undergraduate majors, plus master’s and doctoral programs, adult education and international student education programs. It is a comprehensive university taking engineering and medicine as the backbone and pursuing a harmonious development of engineering, medicine, sciences, economics, management, arts, laws and humanities. NCST is under the common support of Hebei Municipal Government, State Administration of Work Safety, and State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, PRC. It ranks No. 222 among the Chinese comprehensive universities and No. 177 among the medical schools.
NCST has 83 undergraduate programs, 1 postdoctoral research station, 3 first-level disciplines authorized to confer doctoral degrees, 19 first-level disciplines authorized to confer master’s degrees, 10 state level characteristic specialties, 18 key disciplines approved by state ministries and Hebei province, 1 key discipline (Clinical Discipline of Chinese and Western Integrative Medicine) approved by State Chinese Medicine Administration Bureau, 1 international cooperation base for gerontology, 1 key laboratory of the Education Ministry of China(MOE), and 11 key laboratories/centers of Hebei province.
At present, there are 2012 teaching faculties, including 500 teachers holding PhD degrees, 1000 teachers in senior positions. More than 100 teachers are candidates of state-level New Century Talents Program, specialists who enjoy the State Council Special Allowance, Hebei top-level talents, Yanzhao Scholars, or provincial experts with outstanding contribution. Moreover, there are 16 adjunct academicians at the university.
NCST established the first Confucius Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine, in the central and Eastern Europe, through the efforts of China and Hungary. Besides, the university is the Chinese organizer of the Sino-Hungarian Medical Forum. It established the China-UK Regional College English Teachers' Training Center under the agreement between the Chinese and British government. The University has successively established cooperative relationship with over 30 universities in 10 countries. At present, more than 200 international students from over 20 countries are studying at the university.
