After many years’ development, Beijing Institute of Technology has now formed a disciplinary structure with a traditional focus on science and technology but also developing into other areas such as management and humanities. Computer Science and Technology, Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry and other subjects are now among top 1% of ESI international disciplines, with Engineering among 0.1%. According to UK QS world university rankings 2018, BIT ranks 389th worldwide, 76th in the Asia and 17th nationwide.
Our university is committed to cultivating high-level global leaders with international vision, competition and cooperation ability in global political economy, culture education and science and technology. As our education pattern opens wider to the outside world, we have established collaborative partnerships with more than 240 universities in 66 countries. Through our efforts in improving the management system, creating high-level overseas enrollment platform and high-quality students base, and offering high-level disciplines, the past years have witnessed that BIT made great strides in international student enrolment with a scientific and comprehensive system in education and administration. The University has gained more influence in the world, and is now regarded as one of the best destinations for international students studying in China. Currently, we have six undergraduate programs and eleven master programs are available in English, and all of our PhD program can be conducted in English.
The Office of International Students, as an educational and administrative office of BIT, is responsible for recruiting, managing and teaching Chinese as a foreign language to all international students with various backgrounds from all around the world. In addition to the coordinated work in admission management, life management, social management and rendering logistics services, the Office also undertakes the tasks of offering international students Chinese language and Chinese cultural courses. Currently, BIT is home to more than 2,200 international students from 137 different countries, the majority of which is from Germany, France, Russia, Poland, South Korea, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Thailand. Our university is gaining more influence in the world for it widely acknowledged high quality intakes, successful graduates, vast job opportunities, full scholarship programs, efficient daily management, adequate student life support, and colorful student activities.
