The university has 10 faculties: Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Nursing, Traditional Chinese Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Folk Medicine, Humanities, International Education, Continuing Education and 2 departments: Sports and ideology and politics. The university offers 19 undergraduate programs in the domains of medicine, science, engineering and management, and 25 graduate programs. While still laying stress on Traditional Chinese Medicine, the university paid special attention to the development of Folk Medicine and relative disciplines actively. In December 2012, there were 7,581 undergraduates, 520 graduates. There were also on campus approximately 100 long-term international students from 20 countries. Among them, there was 62 Degree-Seeking students.
The college owns a team of teachers who are of a high sense of duty, high levels, high credentials and high competence. The University has 630 staffs, of whom 205 are professors and associate professors, furthermore, 22 of them enjoy the reputation of famous TCM doctors or honorary famous TCM doctors, 4 provincial outstanding teachers. There are 145 mentors in the university. At present, Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine has 15 laboratories, 11 scientific research institutes, Yunnan Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine and Folk Medicine Museum and 5 affiliated hospitals.

Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine places great importance on academic exchange and cooperation with foreign universities and relative research institutes. The university has signed agreements with more than 25 universities in 20 countries and regions.
