Encircled by water on three sides and surrounded by hills, with a network of railways, expressways and air routes extending in all directions, Ganzhou has the optimal conditions for life and investment.
The University-- GNU is one of the two provincial normal universities in Jiangxi province, owning 10 disciplines — Law, Economics, History, Literature, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Education, Management and Arts, with 20 academic faculties, 71 bachelor’s degree programs, and 67 master’s degree programs. There are over 27,000 students and about 1300 faculty. GNU occupies an area of 2100 mu, and has good educational resources and conditions. The experts of Chinese Ministry of Education evaluated GNU as “a distinctive university with bright prospect, ranking at the forefront of the same kind local normal universities in teaching quality and school capability”.
There are nearly 1000 full-time teachers, including more than 460 senior professionals, more than 240 teachers with PhD degrees in our university. In recent years, we have seen the introduction and cultivation of a number of academic leading talents, including one academician double-employed by Chinese Academy of Engineering and 20 State Department Special Allowance experts. Also, we have teachers nominated by National Pacesetter Project and The New Century Talents Program by The Ministry of Education. The university has obviously improved its faculty’s education, title, academic level. We have outstanding teachers honored the titles like National Outstanding Teacher, National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Workers, Advanced Individuals of Global Confucius Institutes, Jiangxi Provincial Labor Medal, Pacesetter of Teacher's Moral in Jiangxi Education System.
We always stick to the importance of the school personnel training. In 2014, Gannan Normal University won the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award twice and National Award for Educational Master's Degree Teaching Achievement once, 2 National Characteristic Majors, 2 National Excellent Courses, 3 Comprehensive Reform Projects by the Ministry of Education, 4 Cooperative Projects of Production and Education the Ministry of Education, 1 Model Joint Training Base for Educational Master's Majors. We aim to build the basic education teachers’ training center, research center and reform-service center for Gannan and surrounding areas.
The international education of GNU began in 2006 and so far we have enrolled more than 600 international students from Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and so on, including different student types of short-term language students, short-term visiting students, one-year exchange students, prior language course students, undergraduate students and postgraduate students. GNU has been approved to enroll the students with Chinese Government Scholarship program, Confucius Institute Scholarship program and Jiangxi Provincial Government Scholarship program since 2013.
