As a key provincial university, Anhui Medical University (AHMU) is one of the universities co-invested by Ministry of Education, National Health & Family Planning Commission and Anhui Provincial Government. Since its foundation in 1926, Anhui Medical University has accumulated a profound historical background with the university motto “Study hard and try to practise, bring up excellent doctors” and university ethos “seeking for earnest, proficiency and creativity”. We have been devoting ourselves to the development of a teaching-research type medical university with high standards, and carrying out the fine tradition of making contribution to human health.
At present, there are more than 15,700 undergraduates. There are 16 teaching institutions directed by the University. Different undergraduate programs and courses are being offered in 30 special fields of study. The university has been authorized to establish 3 post-doctorial scientific research programs, to grant doctorial degrees in 28 specialities, and to award master's degrees in 69 specialities. Anhui Medical University now has 6 directly-affiliated hospitals. In recent 5 years, the university has undertaken 420 research programs from research programs “863”, “973” and Natural Science Foundation of China. In recent years, Anhui Medical University has been far ahead of other provincial universities in terms of the total amount of grants from NSFC (Natural Science Foundation of China). Meanwhile, Anhui Medical University is the only provincial university winning the honor of National top 10 scientific and technological development.
Anhui Medical University attaches great importance to international education. The university provides single and double rooms equipped with bathroom, shower, air-conditioner, TV sets, fridge and internet. International students in Anhui Medical University also have access to Muslim canteen, public kitchen and laundry room. Seven classrooms were renovated for international education. Excellent services for international students, which have got recognition from them, reflect the international administrative standards of the university. Up to now, there are 407 international students(including MBBS Programme,master and doctoral students) from more than 40 countries all round the world.In September 2013, Anhui Medical University was entitled to enroll students with Chinese government scholarship from Chinese Scholarship Council. In 2014, Anhui Medical University began to enroll 7 students with Chinese government scholarship from Cape Verde, Burundi, Commonwealth of the Bahamas, etc.
During the process of international education, Anhui Medical University will constantly improve the teaching and administration mechanism, speed up the construction of basic facilities and infrastructures, which can make every international student feel our warmth and harmony and bear in mind the affection for Anhui Medical University.
