In 1949, shortly after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) was founded in Beijing by the central government. CUFE is the first institution in China to provide systematic training to government officials in the economics and finance sector.
As one of China’s key universities under the direct leadership of the Ministry of Education, CUFE enjoys the patronage of both the central and municipal governments. CUFE’s status as a center of academic excellence was again recognized with our selection to Project 21

In September 2017, CUFE’s applied economics has been designated world first-class discipline by the Ministry of Education.
CUFE has developed into a key resource for first-class personnel in all areas of economics and management as well as offering comprehensive education in law, liberal arts, and science.
