Located in the world-famous city of Guilin and city of Beihai, GUET owns three campuses: Huajiang Campus, Jinjiling Campus and Beihai Campus, covering an area of 4770 acres. The university now has 19 colleges, covering 7 disciplines in engineering, science, management, economics, liberal arts, law and art. It offers 65 undergraduate programs, 29 postgraduate programs including 139 research directions, and 3 doctorate programs.
GUET possesses over 2,600 faculties and staff. Students from different campuses amount to 29,100, maintaining an annual employment rate of 93%. Additionally, GUET has built one of the largest libraries in china with 42,000 square meters, 2 million books, 19,000 kinds of Chinese and foreign journals and 71 databases. It designs advanced internet information platforms and excellent environment for learning.
Recently GUET has established good cooperative relationships with more than 160 universities and academic institutions in Asia, Europe, the Americas, Oceania and Africa, building strategic partnerships with 80 universities. There are four majors teaching in English in our university, they are respectively Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Civil Engineering. In the past 10 years, more than 1,200 GUET students have been studying abroad and around 3,000 international students had pursued their studies in GUET. Presently the university has 500 international students from 45 countries and regions. Apart from cooperation with universities from France, Ireland, England and what have you, GUET and UCC (University College Cork) have joined hands to cultivate undergraduates based on Internet Engineering Program. The university provides “China’s Government Scholarship” and “Guangxi Government Full Scholarship for ASEAN Students” for international students with doctorate, master, bachelor programs.
The university is listed in the educating plan of outstanding engineers launched by Ministry of Education, in innovative experiment plan among college students and in cultivating national defense students. Besides, we are also known as reform demonstration of college English education. Students’ innovation practice base in our university is rewarded as demonstration base of technological innovation among the youth. Our university is recognized as advanced unit in carrying out national plan of creation and employment ability. Students in our campus have often achieved good performance in various competitions such as national college students electronic design competition, creative design as well as mathematical modeling and we have ever gained the highest award of national college students electronic design competition in SONY cup. In 2014, science and technology zone of our university was approved to national university science and technology zone. At present, we have one local platform of national public service in soft and integrated circuit, one key laboratory of Ministry of Education and seven key laboratories of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
