HAUT is a comprehensive university with a priority for engineering, providing undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degrees. It has 20 teaching units; 1 doctoral program for national special need; 18 first-level and 108 second-level disciplines for master program; 18 key discipline of provincial level; 67 bachelor programs; 5 characteristic specialties of national level and 10 of provincial level. The campus presently has over 40000 students, including over 30000 full-time undergraduates and junior college students and 1300 graduates along with nearly 100 international students and 8500 students pursuing continuing education.
The university has 2183 teaching faculties with 1600 full-time teachers, among which there are 860 associate and full professors, among which 560 are with doctoral degrees, 1 Changjiang Scholar, 3 specially-appointed professors of provincial level, 14 doctoral supervisors, 21 professors with special government allowance of State Council, 6 excellent teachers of national level and 40 of ministerial and provincial levels, over 200 academic leaders of Henan Province and owners of Excellent Talents Innovation Awards.
HAUT covers an area of 218 hectares with a total construction area of 890 thousand square meters and a sport field of 87 thousand square meters. The total value of the campus instrument and equipment for teaching and research purposes accounts for around 300 million RMB, and 3.62 million books can be found in the library of HAUT equipped with a 10 thousand Megabytes campus network which is the first in Henan Province.
HAUT makes full use of excellent international education resources and positively develops a sound international cooperation. At present, the university has carried out 5 undergraduate programs with the University of Wales and the University of Reading in Britain. Student exchange programs have also been performed smoothly with Kansas State University, USA and Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy. The year of 2007 has seen the admission of international students by HAUT. In addition, HAUT has been keeping very close research relationship with many international research institutes such as the Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN, International Association for Cereal Science and Technology, US Wheat Association, Canadian Bureau of Wheat, French Wheat Association and Australian International Agricultural Development Center. The university has successfully held the International Seminar of Grain Logistics, UN and International Seminar of Wheat and Improvement of Flour. In 2008, the university is granted as the undertaking organization of the National Project of Human Resources Development for Foreign Aid and has successfully trained more than 400 grain-relevant officials and technicists from over 70 developing countries globally.
