In this course we will examine the topics of fashion show production and public relations. We will study both traditional and new multi-media, digital, and technologically-based fashion presentation strategies. The key topics that will be covered include market research, audience identification, visual merchandising, direct marketing, sponsorship, press releases, digital media strategies, publicity and advertising, and the primary purpose of merchandising product. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have generated projects that include the key elements of fashion show production and public relations materials.

With a focus on developing an innovative approach to fashion design, underpinned by a thorough understanding of historical and contemporary trends in fashion, you’ll acquire a valuable range of technical skills in design development and planning, pattern cutting, garment construction and tailoring.
Your strong research and technical skills and extensive knowledge of the fashion industry, as well as the quality of your designs and manufactured garments, will help you build an enviable profile on which to establish your career. We’ll support you in building a professional portfolio – one of your most powerful assets as a designer to give employers an insight into your talents and design aesthetic.
In addition to coursework, students explore and participate in the vibrant fashion industry. Each year, Fashion Design students submit their designs to national and international competitions. A study abroad program at the College of Fashion during sophomore year offers an international perspective of the fashion world. And what would a fashion education be without a fashion show? Students conclude their senior year studies with the presentation of their collection in the Fashion Show, a beautifully staged event featuring professional models and prominent media coverage.
